Traditionally, the VI Holland-Ukrainian greenhouse forum will be held in the first day of the exhibition Greenhouses Industry and Gardeners Club on February 23, 2016. The Forum is organized by the Embassy of Netherlands in Ukraine.
This year, significant adjustments to established system of the Ukrainian producers of fruits and vegetables are made by outside world. And not all the representatives of large and medium-sized fruit and vegetable business were able to adapt to the new "rules of the game" quickly and successfully.  After analyzing the situation in the Ukraine the organizers of the VI Holland-Ukrainian greenhouse forum took as a basis the following questions:
  1. Components of a successful export strategy of greenhouse production.
  2. What does motivate greenhouses to be certified according to international standards?
  3. Are energy-saving technologies an available for manufacturers?
  4. Is to co-operation possible in the greenhouse sector? Holland experience.
The program is prepared, according to interests of greenhouse complexes and manufacturers of fruits and vegetables in greenhouses with an area from 0.5 hectares.
Also the Organizing Committee of industrial trade fairs, Greenhouse Industry and Gardeners Club 2016 enlisted the support and discussed cooperation with the Ukrainian Business Horticulture Development Project (UPBRP) www.uhbdp.org which is surely known for many Ukrainian players of greenhouse industry and commercial horticulture. The second phase of the Project with Ukrainian agro manufacturers was started since March 2015. The project is implemented in Ukraine by Mennonite Economic Development Association (MEDA, Canada) with financial support of the government of Canada (DFATD) based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Canada due the Canadian cooperation program from 24.10.1994 in partnership with the Israel Center of International Cooperation MASHAV.
The Project worked in Zaporozhye region from 2008 to 2013. And the result of this work was to   increase productivity and areas of small and medium agro manufacturers engaged in the cultivation of strawberries, raspberries, grapes and vegetables in greenhouses. Now the project is considered for seven years starting from 2015 in Zaporozhye, Kherson, Nikolaev and Odessa regions.

It’s not a secret to anybody that Ukraine is an agricultural country. The investment potential of agribusiness is able to complete with the energy sector by its volume. And that’s encouraging. However, there is a one serious problem. To actualize the potential of Ukrainian agribusiness is possible through the introduction of modern effective technologies of farming, using good quality high-tech agricultural machinery. Despite the fact that the Ukrainian farmers desire to introduce modern technologies, there are many questions about the availability of the necessary agricultural machinery.

The realities of today make Ukrainian farmers look for ways to significantly minimize their expenses for the purchase of new agricultural machinery, repairs and restoration of the existing ones. That’s why the best way to help them is cooperation with domestic agricultural machinery sector. However, the participants of this sector are in search of the way out of the stalemate economic situation related to the closure of Russian sales market.

This situation is so profitable for foreign investors in Ukrainian agricultural machinery enterprises exactly in 2015 because of the closure of Russian sales market and shrinking budgets to upgrade farming techniques. That’s why investors, farmers and manufacturers should meet, talk, find out the needs of each other, look for the compromises and work out strategies and tactics to implement them.

To solve the existing problems, we invite you to take part in AGROMECHANICS: Systems and Components Forum which runs on September, 23-24 in Expocentre of Ukraine, Kyiv.

The forum will include two different conferences united by agricultural theme which are viewed from different angles.

The components of precise farming to economic calculations and examples of the implementation of individual stages and across technologies in Ukraine and abroad will be discussed in detail in the framework of Practical Experience of Implementation the Effective Methods of Precision Agriculture in Ukraine conference in 23rd of September.

The conference Realities and Prospects of Ukrainian Market of Agricultural Engineering and Machinery Service is a non-standard format of communication between visitors and speakers who will provide an opportunity to all interested parties of the Ukrainian business to form the backgrounds for launching production facilities for the manufacture of components to foreign agricultural equipment, repair and restoration in Ukraine. Also the conference is intended to assist the parties of the Ukrainian business start joint efforts to increase the number of agricultural service centers.

To get more information and details, ask questions and sign up as a visitor or speaker you can on our web-site www.amsc.in.ua .  The organizer of AGROMECHANICS: Systems and Components Forum is S-TEAM Exhibition Company, which has successful experience of activation business processes in the specific segments of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.

This year the organizing committee tried to put together program of business events with the most-popular thematic. Tips to start business and investment recommendations for modernization, practical lessons of modern technologies of cultivation of various crops, harvesting and transportation, sale of finished products. This is not the whole list of issues discussed at seminars and conferences during the fair. Many events were held in overcrowded halls, where after the ending of the event the audience continued asking questions and getting expert answers clearly.

First day of the trade fairs the following events were held:

 • IV Dutch-Ukrainian Forum on the Greenhouse Industry Profitable Greenhouse Production: Development of the Sector and Improvement Ways

Traditionally the forum has been successfully organized jointly by The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine, Association «Ukrainian Agribusiness Club», Agency «AgriEvent» and S-TEAM Exhibition Company. Participants discussed issues of improving the energy efficiency of greenhouse sector, voiced the prospects of creating scientific and practical center on the basis of Teplichniy Greenhouse Complex (Brovary, Ukraine); new tools for assessing effectiveness of investment in Ukrainian greenhouses, practical lessons to Ukrainian farmers how to grow vegetables profitable.

 • International Conference Development of Nut Business

The organizer of the conference is the Ukrainian Nut Association. The event was completely sold-out! Conference hall for up to 170 people hardly accommodated all the audience. And this situation is completely natural as nut business is perspective in all directions.

 • Seminar Experience of Growing Tropical and Subtropical Crops under Greenhouse-Thermos Conditions

Author of this workshop Anatoly Patiy is not just the inventor of greenhouse-thermos, but also a professional agronomist-breeder. As a result of more than twenty years of research Anatoly led varieties of lemons, the fittest for cultivation in greenhouses, developed the technology of cultivation of lemons indoors. This technology is being implemented today in commercial greenhouses of European countries. Seminar by Anatoly Patiy became an integral part of the business program of our agricultural exhibitions.

 • Seminar Peculiarities of Growing Strawberries in Open and Closed Ground

Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (Institute of Horticulture) Vasily Pavljuk demonstrated in details to the audience of the seminar, as performance depends on the type of strawberries and method for its cultivation. The report of Mr. Pavlyuk was completed by representative of Biotech Systems Company Stanislav Petsold, agronomist informing about the features of growing strawberry in day-neutral coconut substrate.

 • Seminar Tools for Launch of Medium and Small Farmers onto the Consumer's Table.

The seminar was organized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) AgroInvest in Ukraine. In addition to the preparation and conduction of the workshop, AgroInvest provided an opportunity to dozens of large farmers from Odessa and Kherson to visit Greenhouse Industry Fair and Gardeners Club and took an active part in the seminar. The representative of the AgroInvest Vladislav Karpenko told the audience about the prospects of development and launch of family farms in the organized market. Shuvar Wholesale Market representatives told in details about the current situation for medium and small-scale farmers and marketing programs, logistics, methods of processing of documents, the priorities of foreign and domestic consumers in numbers etc.

On the second day the following events took place:

 • Seminar on Modernization and Alternative Heating of Greenhouses.

In the context of steady growth of gas prices, alternative heating of greenhouses is topical for many Ukrainian greenhouse owners that confirmed this seminar organized by S-TEAM Exhibition Company. Representatives of Adama and Trade House BudCom both proposed decisions on alternative heating of greenhouses. Each speaker shared practical experience, and this is particularly important, because the finished proven solution has more opportunities for successful implementation. Holland Plant Ukraine explained how to grow own fuel-energy willow and what technology to observe in order to get income from growing fuel. GESS Consulting Ukraine, in addition to modern equipment, suggested financing possibilities and insurance of business projects in the field of alternative heating for small and medium-sized farms.

 • Seminar on LED lighting in greenhouses. Success story.

Manager of greenhouse lighting in Eastern Europe Philips Horticultural LED Solutions, Vadim Polyakovsky, gathered large audience of interested listeners. High interest to such event is natural because Philips is a global leader in lighting and a major driving force in the world of digital lighting technology.

 • Seminar Raspberries & blackberries. Modern technologies of cultivation.

Seminar was organized by Fruit Project LLC, Dutch Plantin Coir India Pvt and S-TEAM Exhibition Company. Our guest from the UK, international consultant on growing berries Jeremy Darby presented at the seminar two fascinating reports. Mr. Darby told about new technologies to extend the production season of raspberries in Ukraine, and new concept of blackberries growing in greenhouses.

• Seminar on Application of In Vitro Method for Multiplication of Flower and Berry Crops.

Representative of Valley-Agro, Oleg Bazyuk and representative of Astoria, Tatyana Ivchenko professionally and affordably told the audience the importance of applying in vitro method for the production of quality planting material. The theme of this workshop is rising for the second time in the business program of our fairs and only grows its popularity among professionals. And this is, first and foremost, the economic reason: up to 2015 quality planting material has been imported from Europe. But with all the exchange rate fluctuations in the country, export expansion of these products is becoming a great luxury for farmers. This means that there is a need to create own laboratories and research stations on the micro-clonal propagation of plants in Ukraine.

On February 27 numerous requests of visitors reached seminar on Obtaining Organic Production in Horticulture, jointly organized by the Club of Organic Farming and S-TEAM Exhibition Company. Moderator of the seminar was a consultant with the National Association of Agricultural Service of Ukraine, the chief editor of Agrosvіt Ukraine Vladimir Tarasyuk. Vladimir also told how to acquire high-quality planting material, what to look for to avoid becoming a victim of fraud. Farmer and a representative of the Club of Organic Farming Andrey Marchenko made a presentation on improving the profitability of greenhouse by the method of biologization. The real highlight of the seminar was tasting apple varieties from Holland Plant Ukraine. Together with tasting, the company's specialists told about the technologies of growing apple trees that give the opportunity to achieve such a wonderful taste.
